Street Closures & Route Information


In order to ensure the safety of race participants, the route of the Marathon will be closed to traffic.  This will have an impact on traffic flow for the duration of the Marathon, Sunday September 18th between the hours of 7am and 2pm.
 
If you live within one of the zones identified on the map please read the information for your specific zone and plan accordingly.  Vehicular traffic will be restricted but routes have been left open so affected residents can travel to south-side destinations.

  

Police will permit vehicle crossing of Court Street at the following intersections when the way is clear of runners:

  • River Street
  • McIntyre Street
  • Clavet Street
  • MacDougall Street

MARATHON ROUTE

MARATHON ROUTE:  a loop between Centennial Park and 11th Avenue, affecting Fort William Road, Water St, Cumberland St, Villa St, Court St, Gibson Avenue and Arundel.

ACCESS ROUTES

Easiest route of access to points south of the Marathon route.  Residents of the RED ZONE can reach the south side of the city by following this route up Cumberland Street and Hodder Avenue to the 11/17.

ZONE 1

RED ZONE

ZONE 1 is bounded by Villa Street to the south and Gibson Avenue to the north, Court Street to the west and Lake Superior to the east.

ZONE 2

  BLUE ZONE

ZONE 2 includes homes and businesses along the Marathon route.  It includes locations along Fort William Road, Water Street, Villa Street, Court Street and Gibson Avenue.

  GREEN ZONE

 ZONE 3 is the Current River area to the east of Boulevard Lake

ZONE 4

ORANGE ZONE

ZONE 4 includes the downtown Port Arthur core and includes locations along the outside of the Marathon’s downtown loop.  Locations on Park Avenue, Court Street and Red River Road will be affected.

PINK ZONE

ZONE 5 includes apartments and businesses in the downtown core bounded by Court Street to the west, Water Street to the east, Park Avenue to the south and Red River to the north.
