Current River residents will have easy access to the Marathon and its associated activities. The route follows the walking paths around Boulevard Lake and enters Centennial Park; spectators can line the route along Lyon Boulevard and Current Avenue to encourage our local runners and welcome visitors attending the inaugural Thunder Bay Marathon - Miles with the Giant.
The safety of our runners is very important and requires that the Marathon route be closed to vehicle traffic between 7am and 2pm. Roads within ZONE 3 will not be closed to traffic but Cumberland St. will be closed between Villa St and Park Av. Access to Algoma and Court Street will be prevented by the route as well. Residents wishing to visit areas south of this zone can travel up Hodder Avenue to Highway 11/17 and plan to re-enter the city at the Balsam, Red River Road, Oliver and Harbour Expressway exits.
